about

“Electric Ivories” is the debut album from The Lizard of Oz, a music duo that unites Nuno Moita's electronic sounds and a series of piano improvisations by David Rodrigues. The album is set to release on april 6th, 2021, through experimental label Black Hole Time Warp. One of the tracks, “Patrícia's Lullaby”, is premiering on March 29th in commemoration of Piano Day. “Electric Ivories” is a hommage to the influence of a timeless instrument, the piano, in the history of musical composition, with a particular focus on its role in the history of electronic music.

Over the course of more than 2 hours of music, the duo explores musical fusion's potential in an unprecedented collaborative challenge for both parts involved: Bringing together piano and electronics in an experimental environment where the ears of both authors dictate the only rules.

Nuno Moita is the owner of Black Hole Time Warp, unconventional experimental electronic music label, and also the man behind projects such as Draftank or Quadrado em Loop. Throughout his life as an artist, he has collaborated with the likes of Vítor Joaquim, André Gonçalves (in the “Gigantiq” duo) and Ghent (with Fernando Fadigas). He is also one of the founders of Grain of Sound, an experimental electronic music label, where he has published several solo and collaborative works such as “Cinza”, a multimedia arts project that unites electronic music and photography.

David Rodrigues (really) likes playing the piano with the same sonic instincts and innate ingenuity of a child. He writes articles, interviews people and does translation work, asides from “Neurografia”, an experimental photography project set to premiere in the innaugurative edition of artistic magazine PULSAR.
